Found a slimmed-down version of Visual Studio .NET, called Web Matrix, for developing ASP.NET pages.

Haven't installed it, but there's also a link for downloading MSDE (Microsoft Data Engine).

Blogger.com has been down for several days. (Whaddaya want for nothing? A rubber biscuit?)

In any case, found a cool book and companion web site on using Flash and XML. You can do some amazing things with Flash, databases, and XML. Despite the public's aversion to Flash advertising, I think Flash will replace HTML pages within the next several years.

Developersdex.com lists two good examples of DHTML menus that have been adapted for use with a database.

The first, Jason Buck's Dynamenu, is an adaptation of Static Slide Menu by Maximus.

The second is Loren Erickson's adaptation of the popular HierMenus from DHTML Lab.

Unfortunately, it seems that HierMenus is no longer free.
